BIO
Lauren Kuehmeier is a young and ambitious photojournalist with a passion for exploring the intricate relationship between humans and nature. Born and raised in Texas she developed a deep appreciation for the natural world from a young age. She spent her childhood exploring the region's coastline and witnessing the changing landscape, often with a camera in hand.
Lauren studied photography at the Pratt Institute, where she double-minored in Sustainability and Social Justice. There she honed her skills in visual storytelling and developed her unique perspective on the intersection of humanity and the environment. Her thesis project Second Nature centered on her Grandfather’s hometown of Niagara Falls, where she carried out a year-long project investigating the intersection of nature, humans and industry. She has since traveled extensively, documenting the diverse communities, from traditional subsistence farming practices in rural India to cutting-edge sustainability initiatives in urban centers.
Lauren's work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions, and she has received recognition for her ability to capture both the beauty and the fragility of our planet. She is dedicated to using her photography to raise awareness of environmental issues and to inspire action to protect the natural world.
She currently resides in her home state of Texas where she is working as a freelance photojournalist and videographer where she is available for local projects as well as potential employment opportunities. Please reach out over email at lkuehmeier@gmail.com.
